The INFOCOM Department of the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (UoR) has gained recognized experience and competence in the advanced telecommunications systems world. Specifically, its Networking and Communication groups, by jointly participating to several research projects, both at a national and international levels, have given a significant contribution to the investigation and design of innovative wireless communication systems. The main contributions have been both in the architectural model definition and protocol development. In the whyless.com consortium, UoR will play a major role in the design of advanced features for the open mobile radio access network, specifically in the area of resource management and of analysis of transmission related aspects. The function of UoR will be to coordinate and lead the development of the Network Resource Manager Workpackage (WP4), as well as contributing to radio connected issues within the Ultra Broadband Technology Workpackage (WP5).
